Siemens' Business Services unit in Oslo already has been ordered to pay a fine of NOK 9 million, for overbilling the ministry on defense contracts.

Siemens and the military agreed in 2006 that Siemens would repay NOK 75.6 million to compensate for the overbilling. The fine came in addition to the compensation.

Now Siemens is being ordered to pay another fine of NOK 2 million (about USD 400,000 at current exchange rates) for covering the expenses of three military employees on a golf trip.

Now Siemens and two persons tied to the firm are being ordered to pay another fine of NOK 2 million (about USD 400,000 at current exchange rates), for covering the expenses of three military employees on a golf trip to Spain.

The expenses paid for the golf tour, in which the defense officials took part, amounted to NOK 19,191. Among those involved was former Rear Admiral Atle Torbjørn Karlsvik, who recently was acquitted of fraud after being charged over questionable expense accounts.

Defense attorney Ellen Holager Andenæs said she would advise Siemens against accepting the fine, claiming the expense coverage wasn’t illegal.
