"It's nearly enough to give you religion," Einar Volden told newspaper Adresseavisen.
Volden was leading a course to show theater staff how to use the new life-saving equipment. As the presentation was winding up, the real-life drama began.
"Just as I was about to end the course the caretaker ran in and said a man had collapsed outside of the Old Stage. We just unpacked the machine and ran," Volden told Adresseavisen.
Volden and the course participants began aid procedure while the machine started up. After a shock from the defibrillator the fallen man's heart began to beat again and he recovered shortly afterwards while being taken by ambulance to St. Olav's Hospital.
"I have experienced a lot in my 20 years in the business, but this was something very special. Time is everything in such situations and that we happened to be having a course on the day was probably crucial. Now the man has a much better prognosis," Volden said.
Theater manager Otto Homlung sent profound thanks to the Friends of the Theater who donated the apparatus, and said the new motto: "Prolong your life at Trøndelag Theater" was ready for use.
