According to newspaper Svalbardposten cabins may be erected in 'management area 10', near residences on Svalbard.

Environmental management head at the Governor's office, Rune Bergstrøm, said it was possible to establish three or four spots in the area for tourist cabins.

"We have no clear answer on what constitutes a "limited number", but my gut feeling is that it will between six and ten cabins," Bergstrøm said.

The new tourist cottages will have to be built to connect with the main scooter trails in the central regions of Svalbard.
