Former Aftenposten editor Per Egil Hegge is the author of the work, and he has spent the past two years interviewing King Harald. Hegge has also spoken with all of the adult members of the Norwegian royal family and a wide range of those who know the king through official or personal channels.
Hegge reportedly spoke in depth with former prime minister Per Borten before Borten passed away.
Photographer Rolf M. Aagaard is the photo editor for the volume, which will be well illustrated, with many photographs that have never before been published.
The book will be published by Damm on the final week of October 2006.
