The survey by market analysis bureau MMI Univero asked 500 Norwegians if they could consider Crown Princess Mette-Marit as a lover or mother to their children, newspaper VG reports.

Men were given a list of 10 celebrities to choose to be unfaithful with, including actresses and Minister of Children and Equality Karita Bekkemellem.

Evasive responses like "don't know" or "none of them" were not alternatives.

Female respondents were given a similar list, and Crown Prince Haakon was an option here, along with Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre and Turboneger vocalist Hank von Helvete.

MMI Univero would not disclose who had ordered the survey, or which industry the company was in. VG reported that newspaper Dagbladet is behind the controversial survey, but their acting editor refused comment.
