Trouble with the ventilation system on new NSB local trains can mean that passengers get to feel showery conditions while inside the cars on stormy days, NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting) reports.
Earlier this summer passengers noticed that rain managed to penetrate the trains.
"There are some drainage holes connected to the air conditioning system that can become blocked. Leaves and other rubbish get in the way but we by and large have control by cleaning this out," NSB information chief Preben Colstrup told NRK.
The 36 new trains from Italian producer Ansaldobreda have cost NSB nearly NOK 2 billion (USD 334 million). Colstrup believes the trains will be kept rain-free during the summer.
"All new train equipment must be tested and we are constantly learning so it is natural that challenges arise underway. We will solve this problem by putting a cap over the drainage holes so that leaves and other debris cannot get in there," Colstrup said.
