Low-pressure systems were piling up in the Atlantic, and setting a course for Scandinavia over the weekend. State meteorologists predicted strong winds from Saturday, and rainy, blustery weather on Sunday.

It was already raining and windy up north and on the west coast. The Norwegians call it "ruskevær," and it makes staying indoors mightly appealing.

"Now it seems the autumn will really arrive," meteorologist Arild Mentzoni told Aftenposten.no. "We'll have blustery weather all weekend and it will stick around most of next week."

Winds can rise to storm force south of Stadt and the Dovre mountains, Mentzoni said, and storms were also predicted in the mountains. Some mountain passes were due to get hit by snow as well.

Temperatures would range from 6-14C, chillier than it's been lately.

Eastern Norway would have the best weather, but cold winds were due on Saturday followed by rain on Sunday.

Rain was also predicted in Nordland, with strong winds in Troms and Finnmark in the north, and temperatures from 6-12C.
