Bergen police had their claim upheld in Gulating Court of Appeals. Winehouse must appear in person to testify about events when she and her husband were arrested in possession of drugs, newspaper Bergens Tidende reports.

Winehouse, her husband and her personal hairdresser were arrested in a room at Hotell Norge, allegedly for smoking marijuana and having taped over the smoke alarm. They were also in possession of over seven grams of the drug.

Winehouse denied responsibility and said that her hairdresser owned the marijuana but all three signed a statement accepting a fine of NOK 4,000 (USD 722).

Afterwards Winehouse has claimed that she did not understand what she was signing and, through her Bergen lawyer Ole Kvelstad, the singer argued that the fine could damage her career, by harming her chances to enter the USA, among other things.

The court appearance will now examine whether or not Winehouse was deceived when signing the police fine in Bergen.

"We are satisfied with the ruling. It would have been hopeless for the court to decide this case without the three of them here in person," said police lawyer Rudolf Christoffersen.
