* "Skrik" was stolen before, in 1994, and was recovered undamaged after an international police effort. Three Norwegians were arrested accused of trying to ransom the painting for USD 1 million from the government.

* Pål Enger, who received a six-year prison sentence for the theft, later bought a Munch at an auction.
