Viking finished fifth in their domestic Fair Play league. They were given the European place as champions Rosenborg had qualified for the Champions League while the next three sides - Brann, Tromsø and Vålerenga - had secured UEFA Cup places.

UEFA's Fair Play system is based on criteria such as positive play, respect for opponents and the referee, the behavior of team officials and supporters as well as cautions and dismissals.

Six other associations - Sweden (Hammarby), Estonia (Tulevik Viljandi), Germany (FSV Mainz), England (Tottenham Hotspur), Switzerland (Young Boys) and Denmark (to be confirmed at the end of the season on June 19) - will go into a draw for a further two places in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup.
