"John will come closer home to his son and get good terms," agent Per Flod said Sunday. "It was easy to agree with Lyon, but Besiktas negotiates differently than we're used to."

Carew has been playing for the Turkish club for the past year, and earned up to NOK 35 million there. He arrived as a superstar from Valencia, but 13 goals apparently wasn't enough for the demanding officials and fans at Besiktas.

Now he'll get NOK 60 million over the next four years to play for Lyon, which will be Carew's fourth club in as many years as well. Since leaving Norway's Rosenborg club for Valencia, he also played on loan for Roma before going to Besiktas.

Carew also has encountered turbulence off the field, catching criticism for a flashy lifestyle, a fist fight with a Norwegian teammate and then the paternity suit. Carew initially refused to accept fatherhood of a baby boy in Norway, but DNA tests later changed his mind and he's now taken responsibility for the boy.

Carew also continues to play on Norway's national team.
