The ski season is underway, at least in the mountains. Trysil in eastern Norway opened last weekend, as did Bjorli, Kvitfjell, Vassfjellet near Trondheim, Beitostølen, Geilo and Gaustablikk.
Nordseter, Haukelifjell and Dombås were due to open this weekend.
The weather also looked promising, from a skier’s point of view. Snow and sub-freezing temperatures were in the forecast with some sunshine expected as well.
Trysil had two hills open and was due to open a third on Saturday, with 25 centimeters of snow on the ground.
Kvitfjell in Gudbrandsdalen, north of Lillehammer, reported good conditions with 30 to 50 centimeters of snow. None of the resorts cross-country trails were open as yet, though.
Vassfjellet near Trondheim was the first to open this sesason followed within days by Beito, Geilo and Gaustablikk. Beitostølen reported that only one of the triple chairlifts would be running this weekend, however, but cross-country skiing was possible following the comepetitive events that began late this week.
"We're expecting a bit of snow during the night, and hope we can open another trail or two," Ann Christin Rødningen told Forbruker.no.
