Vålerenga director Kjetil Siem is working on bringing the star player home to strengthen the club further, but a deal with Flo's current employers, Italian Serie A team Siena, is far from struck.

"It's difficult. They want to sell, we want to loan. We can't afford the market price and believe that they will save so much in salary costs that it will equal a transfer sum.," Siem said.

Flo's contract with Siena expires this summer, when he will become a Bosman player and can leave for free, though Vålerenga can hardly count on being able to come out as top bidder then.

"I would like to, but the clubs have to agree and I don't think I can do too much to help. I think Vålerenga is now a very exciting club. They definitely have something going and there is great interest in the club. Besides, it would be wonderful to come back to Norway," Flo said.

Vålerenga has increasing hopes of keeping another wayward pro at home. Striker Steffen Iversen was reportedly unimpressed with the offer he just received from Italian Lazio, and has been very satisfied with his stay in Oslo.
