How to play: Norway vs The World

Magnus Carlsen of Norway is defending himself in the chess world championship. But can the Norwegian people manage to beat the rest of the world in Aftenposten´s chess tournament?

Right now Magnus Carlsen is battling it out with Vishy Anand for the title of World Champion but our tournament is teamplay where everybody gets to have a say about the next move. All moves will be decided by  a democratic vote – the move which is most popular will be chosen.

Norway vs the World starts at 10.00 AM on Monday 18th November, Norwegian time. Norway, playing with white pieces, will then vote for the first move.

There is no need to sign up or register to participate in the tournament. It is possible to join or leave at anytime, just pop in and suggest a move or stay for the whole match.

Rules for the tournament :

* Players from both teams access the tournament via Aftenposten.no .

* Anyone with a Norwegian IP address can vote for the next Norwegian move.

* World players with foreign IP addresses will be able to vote for the the Rest of the Worlds moves.

* You can move the pieces wherever you like up until the deadline, at which point your move will be registered.

* The world has one hours to decide its next move after Norway has made its move.

* It will be possible to see the three most suggested moves at any given time for the team that are active. The move which has received the most votes at deadline will be chosen as the teams next move.

* Play will be suspended between 12.00 AM and 10.00 AM Norwegian time.

* It is possible to rewind to see earlier moves and which pieces have been lost.

* You can play on PC , mobile and tablet . The game works on all platforms.
